We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join our team and work on crucial features such as Canvas, Lists, Huddles, Clips, and Files - integral components of productivity within Slack. You will contribute to creating fast, reliable, and enjoyable mobile experiences that allow seamless collaboration for our users, no matter their location.

Your Responsibilities

• Developing and refining Slack's Android app to enhance essential productivity features like Canvas, Lists, Huddles, Clips, and Files.
• Leading architectural and technical design decisions for new features that cater to millions of users.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including iOS, Backend, Product, and Design, to deliver intuitive and high-performing mobile experiences.
• Ensuring that mobile experiences are deeply integrated, sustainable, accessible, and reliable across all Android devices.
• Driving initiatives to enhance code quality, testing, performance, and the overall developer experience within the mobile team.
• Mentoring fellow engineers, providing technical expertise, and fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on Android development experience, creating high-quality consumer or enterprise applications.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Android SDK, and mobile architectural patterns such as MVVM and MVI.
• Familiarity with RxJava, Coroutines, Flows, dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Dagger, Anvil), and Jetpack Compose.
• A methodical approach to development, testing, documentation, and code organization within a team.
• A user-centric perspective, emphasizing user experience, performance, and reliability.
• Experience navigating large, evolving codebases, with a focus on maintainability and scalability.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, enjoying partnership with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• A capability to lead technical projects and devise solutions in complex problem areas.
• A relevant technical degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Slack and a genuine desire to enhance its functionality.
• Background in developing design systems to create reusable and scalable components.

In the United States, compensation will be influenced by factors such as location, job level, skills, and experience. Roles may come with incentive compensation, equity, and benefits. The typical base salary range for this position is $172,500 - $260,100 per year. For roles in specific cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range is $207,800 - $285,800 per year. This range reflects base salary only and does not include potential bonus, incentives for sales roles, or equity, as applicable.
