The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all information technology systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity within a precision aluminum investment casting environment supporting aerospace and defense customers. This role ensures the reliability, security, and compliance of IT systems aligned with production operations, engineering systems, and regulatory requirements including

The IT Manager partners with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to support manufacturing systems, protect controlled technical data, and drive continuous improvement in IT performance and security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Operations
- Manage and maintain all IT infrastructure including servers, networks, firewalls, cloud systems, and end-user devices
- Ensure high system availability for ERP, MES, CAD/CAM, and quality systems
- Oversee backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Manage IT vendors, software licenses, and service contracts
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls aligned with NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC readiness
- Ensure protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and export-controlled data (ITAR)
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability management, and incident response
- Support internal and external audits (AS9100, customer audits, ITAR compliance)
- Maintain policies for access control, data protection, and acceptable use
Manufacturing Systems Support
- Support ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, or similar) and shop floor systems
- Collaborate with Engineering on CAD/CAM, PDM/PLM systems
- Ensure connectivity and reliability of production equipment interfaces (if applicable)
- Support data collection and reporting for quality and production metrics
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute IT strategy aligned with business goals
- Manage IT staff or external support providers
- Establish IT budgets, capital planning, and cost controls
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and digital transformation efforts
Help Desk & End User Support
- Ensure timely resolution of user issues
- Develop IT training and user awareness programs (especially cybersecurity)
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
- Equivalent experience considered
Experience
- 8+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership
- Experience in
manufacturing environment required
(preferably aerospace or defense)
- Experience with regulatory compliance frameworks (AS9100, ITAR, NIST) strongly preferred
- Experience supporting ERP systems (Epicor) and engineering applications
Technical Skills
- Network administration (firewalls, VPNs, switches)
- Server management (Windows/Linux environments)
- Cybersecurity tools and practices
- Cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS)
- ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Backup and disaster recovery systems
- Endpoint management and security
- Knowledge of database systems and reporting tools
Preferred Experience (Aerospace / Investment Casting)
- Understanding of aluminum investment casting processes
- Experience supporting NADCAP or AS9100-certified environments
- Handling export-controlled technical data (ITAR)
- Supporting inspection systems (CMM software, quality systems)
- Experience with shop floor automation or IIoT systems
