Mobile QA Tester — Android App Compatibility & Bug Testing
UpworkWe're looking for an experienced freelance Android QA tester to do a thorough one-time bug-hunting pass on a mobile weather app.
What we need
Test the app across a wide range of Android devices and OS versions (using a mix of physical devices, Android emulators, and/or a cloud device farm like BrowserStack or Firebase Test Lab — your call on the best approach)
Cover different device tiers (budget, mid-range, flagship), screen sizes (phones and tablets), Android versions (older and recent), and manufacturers (Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, OnePlus, etc.)
Exercise all major features of the app and try to break it — edge cases, poor network conditions, GPS/location behavior, backgrounding, rotation, permissions, push notifications, etc.
Document every bug, crash, UI issue, or confusing behavior in a clear, reproducible bug report (steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual behavior, device/OS info, screenshots or screen recordings where helpful)
Deliverables
A consolidated bug report (Google Sheet, Doc, or similar) listing all issues found, with severity, device/OS context, and reproduction steps
A summary of the device/OS matrix you covered
Screenshots or screen recordings for non-obvious bugs
Skills required
Solid mobile QA experience, ideally with Android apps
Comfortable with emulators and cloud device farms
Strong written English and clear bug reporting
Attention to detail and an instinct for edge cases
How we like to work
Async-friendly — share progress in a shared doc as you go rather than waiting for a final dump
Quick turnaround preferred — ideally ASAP
Happy to answer questions over Upwork messages or a quick call if helpful
